When she was a small child, Kathryn’s maternal grandmother often took her and her two brothers out into the night, to gaze at the Milky Way. Kathryn’s grandmother knew the night sky, pointing out planets and constellations. In adulthood Kathryn’s interest in cosmology, the study of the universe has continued.
